Question 1

Who is Jesus?

Answer

Eternal Son of God
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son, the second person of the Trinity. He is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; John 14:26).
His Humanity and Mission
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and revealed the Father’s love and truth to the world. God the Father sent Jesus into the world to save humanity from sin and eternal death (John 3:16).
Savior through His Sacrifice
Jesus died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, shedding His blood so that we might be forgiven and reconciled to God (Hebrews 10:19).
Bodily Resurrection and Lordship
On the third day, Jesus rose bodily from the dead, conquering sin and death, and later ascended into heaven where He reigns as Lord.
The Only Way to God
Jesus declared Himself to be “the way, the truth, and the life,” affirming that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). Salvation and eternal life are found in Him alone.
Returning King and Judge
Jesus will return to the earth to complete God’s redemptive plan: raising the saved to eternal life with God and the lost to eternal separation and punishment (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

The Bible

Inspired and Infallible Word of God
The Bible is divinely inspired, meaning its writings were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21). It is without error in its original manuscripts and trustworthy in all that it affirms.
God’s Revelation to Humanity
Through the Scriptures, God has revealed who He is, His will, His redemptive plan through Jesus, and the principles by which believers are to live. It teaches us about creation, sin, salvation, holiness, the kingdom of God, and the ultimate destiny of humanity.
Authority for Life and Doctrine
The Bible is the final authority for faith and conduct. It is the standard by which all teachings, traditions, and experiences must be measured (1 Thessalonians 2:13).
Sufficient and Complete
The Scriptures contain everything necessary for salvation and godly living (2 Timothy 3:15-17). Nothing needs to be added to it, and it cannot be diminished.
Living and Active
The Bible is not just a historical document but is “living and active,” able to transform lives by the power of the Holy Spirit as believers read and obey it (Hebrews 4:12).
Meant to Be Known and Obeyed
Believers are called to meditate on it, study it diligently, and live it out daily. It guides us in knowing God, loving others, resisting sin, and growing in spiritual maturity.

The Kingdom of God

Salvation by Grace through Faith
Entry into God’s kingdom is a gift. Salvation is given by God’s grace and received through faith—not earned by works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
New Life and Fellowship with God
Through Jesus’ blood, believers are cleansed from sin and brought into a restored relationship with God (Hebrews 10:19).
Baptism in Water
Water baptism is an outward sign of an inward work of grace. It publicly declares a believer’s faith and new life in Christ, in obedience to Jesus’ command (Matthew 28:19).
Baptism with the Holy Spirit and Spiritual Gifts
After salvation, believers may experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit, empowering them for service and giving supernatural gifts to build up the church (Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11).
Healing through Christ’s Atonement
Physical healing is provided in Jesus’ atoning work, demonstrating God’s compassionate care and His kingdom breaking into this world (1 Peter 2:24).
Future Fulfillment
The kingdom will reach its fullness at Christ’s return. Believers will be raised to eternal life and joy in God’s presence, while unbelievers will face eternal separation and judgment.
